Jesse and I went to a wedding and reception this weekend that was just lovely. I don't know that I've ever seen a prettier bride (her dress was just perfect for her) - and her groom looked liked he'd been handed the moon when she walked down the aisle towards him. It was a sweet ceremony with his father marrying them and her father up there as well. At several points during the ceremony when the pastor spoke of "leaving & cleaving" - that is when a young man and woman who marry start their own life & family together with the blessing and encouragement of others - Jesse would look over at me and squeeze my hand in agreement, as that is a topic we have been discussing a lot lately.
The reception was fun. It was held at the bride's parents home - and was so beautifully decorated. My husband actually danced with me! I told him that his cover was blown - he can keep time just fine & knows how to dance so he has no more excuses. That cake was some of the best I have ever put in my mouth. Mmmm...cake.
The only bad thing that occurred (which I had mentally prepared myself for) were belly gropers. On a couple of people I saw it coming and was able to turn it into a handshake. One did a "drive by" touch as I was walking by (!!) but the award for "I'm Clueless and Rude" went to a bridesmaid whose name I know but I don't know her at all. She is a complete stranger to me. She went to touch the belly, I turned it into a handshake and then
with her other hand reached around and still rubbed it!!! Grrrrr! What the hell?!
But, all in all it was a beautiful time and I felt so privileged and blessed to have been invited to be a part of all that. For both Jesse and I, it brought back a lot of happy memories of our wedding day.

Drive-by belly rubbing...ha! This was one of those quirky and downright weird gestures that always took me by surprise. Hang in there, Darcy!
Well maybe your new nickname is Buddha.
Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood for something that obviously irks you. But you can give me props for not trying to, when I saw you at Borders.
I like the new ticker!! It's cute:)
Boy I guess I should feel lucky that I didn't have the experience you had. Really no one really tried to grope my tummy without me already saying it was ok. I still think it's because you are so gosh, darn cute as a pregnant lady :D lol I am pretty impressed you can turn most of them into handshakes though! Not sure if I would be able to pull that off. You should get one of those "hands off" t shirts. I know I have seen them somewhere for expecting women... just don't remember where.
